Who it is for
Landlords of rental property in England who want rent and expenses logged by tax year.
About this pack
A 32-page A4 PDF guide for small landlords in England. It explains what counts as rental income, what records to keep, how to set up a property register, and the difference between allowable and capital costs. It also explains the property allowance, Rent a Room and deposits, with a worked example and printable logs.
The Excel workbook has eight sheets: Start Here, Settings, Rent Ledger, Expenses, Tax Year Summary, By Property, Yield Calculator and Dates. Delete the pale green Example rows, set your tax year and properties on Settings, then start logging.
The workbook keeps records and adds them up. It does not file anything with HMRC and it does not work out your tax bill.
The guide is written for England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have different rules, so check the rules for where your property is.
General information, not professional advice. Check current official guidance before you rely on it.
England only. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have different rules. Figures are as printed in the guide; confirm on GOV.UK before relying on them.
